Village Tour in Nepal

Villager Tour in NepalThis unique short tour and trek, takes us into the very rarely visited Nalang Village. Passing rural villages, farmland and forests, we climb to a peak over 1800m. At night we enjoy the hospitality of local village families, and during the days, we learn about the methods and culture of the rural Nepalese way of life.

This is a very special new trek, which we have designed in close collaboration with our local staff and the local villagers of the Nalang Region. The aim is to give you a chance to trek through a rarely visited part of the Nepalese countyside and to see, learn about, and participate in, the rural Nepalese village way of life.

We start by greeting you as you arrive in Kathmandu, and take you to your comfortable, high quality hotel. We have a half-day tour of some Kathmandu's ancient temples, streets and palaces, as well as ample free time before we leave to start the trek.

We have a 4 ½ hour local bus journey to our start point in the village of Sasaha. The last 2 hours takes us along small winding roads passing through rice fields and forest. We lunch in Sasaha before having a gentle afternoon's walk to the village of Sundaripani where we spend our first night. En-route we stop for some time at the important market village of Thobantar.

In Sundaripani we have our first taste of rural Nepalese village hospitality as we eat, talk and sleep in the home of a local family. This feature of the trek may mean that our accommodation is basic, but our close contact with the villagers allows us to learn from each other, and have a lot of fun. We will get the chance to help with the preparation and cooking of the evening meal and learn about the importance of the Nepalese national meal - Dal Bhat.

We leave after breakfast the next morning and walk through rice fields, villages and forest as we climb gradually to our next evening stop in the village of Kherre. There is a primary school here attended by around 150 pupils from surrounding villages and we can spend some time here with the children before we spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying more village hospitality.

Our third day takes us through the orange orchards surrounding the village of Patle as we climb toward the highest peak on our trek. We rest and take lunch in the village of Siddatha before we climb holy Siddathan, the highest peak in the Nalang region at over 3000m. This steep climb through rhododendron forest is amply rewarded by the views of the surrounding mountains from the top. We descend through more forest and rice fields to the village of Arbas for our final night.

Our last day takes us through more farmland and villages where we make more stops before we cross the Trisuli river to the village of Malaku where we have lunch before catching the bus back to Kathmandu. After freshening up in your hotel, we meet again for a special evening meal in a high quality traditional Nepalese restaurant. The tour ends after breakfast the next day. We will transfer you to the airport when required.
