Annapurna Base Camp Trekking

Annapurna Base Camp trekkingThe Annapurna Sanctuary is the most hugely beautiful trek in Nepal. The Sanctuary area is managed by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).The biological diversity of the Annapurna Region is equally rivaled by its rich cultural diversity. Since the first trekker came to the Annapurna area in 1957, the natural and cultural features of ACAP have made it the most popular tourist destination in Nepal, drawing more than 60 per cent of the country's total trekkers. ACAP follows the three grassroot philosophy of maximum peoples participation, sustainability, and its role as at ca atalyst (facilitator) whereby the local people are involved in all aspects of the conservation and development processes, both as principal actors and prime beneficiaries.

The Annapurna Region blessed with several peaks, which lies between the Kali Gandaki, and Marsyandi river valley. Within its span of 40 miles, it encompasses some twelve peaks that are higher than 7000m and numerous others over 6000m. As rhododendron forests give way to bamboo groves, which in turn vanish into the high, desert landscapes, people of Aryan stock give way to those of Mongoloid stock and the dominant religion changes from Hinduism in the lower reaches to Buddhism higher up. Passing directly below the dramatic fishtail peak, our destination is the vast natural amphitheatre of the Sanctuary where we are ringed by glistening peaks. After enjoying this lovely panoramic view we return via a different route making a worthwhile detour to Poon hill to capture its amazingly beautiful sunrise view on Dhaulagiri and surrounding peaks.
